Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR)
The Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) is a departmental research institution under the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). The BBSR deals with the following topics: urban and spatial development, housing and real estate market, building and building culture at national and European level.
The division of Transport and Environment focuses on the development of the intermodal transport policy and the spatially relevant environmental and energy policy. It deals with questions about:
- integrated spatial and transport planning
- urban land use change
- cultural landscapes
- climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies
- spatial aspects of energy policy
The empirical analyses contribute to a sustainable urban and spatial development. .
